Hydrate
This is one of the most basic things you can do to improve your health. Fact is you are made of water (and other elements), it is in all your cells, your blood; you release up to 7 litres a day alone into the digestive tract as you digest and absorb what you eat and it aids in the detoxification of your body. You lose water in the form of sweat and urine, but also in your bowel movements and from breathing. So you need to make sure you consuming adequate water each day to maintain health. You get water from the food you eat, but by simply drinking more water you will be meeting the demand of being hydrated. It doesn’t just have to be plain water, you can drink:
• Water
• Tea
• Herbal tea
• Coffee
• Squash
• Smoothies
However it’s not great to consume:
• Alcohol
• Juice
• Soda
In terms of how much a day – well you’re probably all heard 8 glasses a day which is a good place to start. If you want to individualise it to yourself then times your body weight in kg by 0.04 to get the amount you should drink in litres.
Drinking too much water is also not a good idea so more is not always better.
